DISCONTINUOUS BRANCHES

Parallel civilisations that developed sophisticated infrastructure independently but did not feed directly into the continuous East-West relay chain. They represent parallel infrastructure consciousness — discontinuous paths.
ADDED FOLLOWING FEEDBACK FROM LUDVIK THORSTEINSSON • LINKEDIN • 24 MAR 2026
Why “Discontinuous”?
The relay model tracks the continuous handoff of infrastructure knowledge from one civilisation to the next. These branches rose independently, developed sophisticated infrastructure (proving universal human capacity), but declined without passing their innovations to the next link in the chain. The educational question: “What conditions create continuity vs. discontinuity?” — Geography, trade routes, and connectivity.
